Penn State Fayette Golf Finishes 5th in PSUAC Championship

The Roaring Lions golf team at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus participated in the 2017 PSUAC/USCAA Championship tournament on October 9th and 10th at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, PA.

Penn State Fayette, led by Assistant Coaches Al Crawford and Rita Gumbert and Head Coach Dave Gumbert, finished 5th in the PSUAC standings and 13th in the USCAA standings out of a total of twenty-five participating schools from across the country.

Charlie Fetzner’s two-day total (152) helped him achieve 3rd place in the PSUAC conference and a tie for 8th place in the USCAA National tournament. He was selected as a 2017 USCAA Golf All-American 2nd Team Student-Athlete.

Haley Brothers was selected for the 2017 USCAA National All-Academic Team for maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or greater during the academic year.

The Roaring Lions two-day scores were as follows: Charlie Fetzner (78/74), Gage Clark (83/82), Noah House (88/83), Austin Clark (86/88), and Jake DeBerry (102/93). Jarrod Sutton (81/78) and Haley Brothers (106/95) competed as individuals in the Men’s and Women’s divisions, respectively.

The strong finish follows the golf team’s inaugural season standing of 17th in the 2016 USCAA tournament.
