Top local high school students honored at Fayette campus

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Fifteen local high schools sent students to be honored for their academic excellence and achievement at a ceremony on July 15 in the Community Center at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus. For the seventh year in a row, the Penn State Fayette and United Bank 4.0 Club recognized students who have completed their sophomore, junior or senior year with a cumulative 4.0 grade-point average. Joining the ceremonies was United Bank representative and Penn State graduate Tim Kelly, who started at Penn State Fayette and finished his bachelor’s degree in business at the University Park campus.

The program featured two speakers, both of whom distinguished themselves academically in high school and at the Fayette campus. Johnny Marcolini, a Penn State Fayette alumnus from Brownsville, went on to earn his master’s degree from Penn State World Campus and works as an enrollment specialist at Penn State Fayette. Colton Layhue, a Uniontown High School graduate, just completed his sophomore year at the campus and will be a junior this fall at University Park.
