Penn State Fayette appoints head librarian

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus has appointed Joanna DePolt to the position of head librarian.

A native of western Ohio, DePolt most recently served as the library director at South University and, previously, at the ITT Technical Institute in North Carolina. She was instrumental in the establishment of physical libraries at both institutions. She brings 10 years of professional library and administrative experience to her new role.

DePolt holds a bachelor’s degree from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio, a master’s degree from the University of Kentucky, and a doctorate in education from Argosy University.

At Penn State Fayette, DePolt is working on several initiatives to bolster the information literacy program and increase the library’s influence on campus, including interdepartmental collaboration, curricula and event hosting. DePolt comes to Penn State Fayette at an opportune time — a yearlong feasibility study was recently completed to prepare for renovations to the library.

“I see a lot of opportunity here,” said DePolt. “The small campus at Penn State Fayette gives me the opportunity to get to know the students and faculty with the support of a massive and respected institution.”

The Penn State Fayette library, along with a number of University resources and databases, is available to the public. For more information, visit http://libraries.psu.edu/fayette.
