Steel Dragon Kung Fu to perform at Penn State Fayette

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — The Steel Dragon Kung Fu and Lion Dance team will perform at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, in the lower level of the Williams Building.

The performance, sponsored by the campus Coalition for Equity, will feature martial-arts demonstrations and the traditional lion dance, which combines elements of Chinese opera, literature, philosophy and symbolism.

The Pittsburgh-based dance team was founded in 2003 by Chris Young, a martial-arts instructor with more than 20 years of experience. The team has performed at venues, festivals and universities around the region. Young offers training in kung fu, tai chi, lion dance, and drumming in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

The event is free and open to the public.
