The Nurse Practitioner options enable baccalaureate-prepared nurses to acquire advanced knowledge and clinical practice skills in direct care of individuals, families, and aggregate populations in primary care settings. Students plan a part-time or full-time plan of study to meet the requirements for one of two specialty areas:
- Adult Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
- Family Nurse Practitioner
The program is designed to be completed in two years (four semesters) of full-time study. Graduates are eligible for national certification and state licensure as a family nurse practitioner or adult gerontology primary care nurse practitioner.
The curriculum is offered at Penn State Fayette using videoconferencing technology and some online courses, with clinical experiences at health care facilities in the local area.
