Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
This course provides a basic foundation in pre-hospital emergency medical services care, as per procedures developed by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
Prerequisites are:
A. Must be 16 years of age or older.
B. Prioritized Department of Health selection process enforced.
The program will be a minimum of 160 hours with combined lecture & practical skill sessions. Upon successful completion of the program, the student will be eligible for certification from the NREMT and the PA Dept. of health as an EMT.
Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (A-EMT)
Provides basic and limited advanced emergency care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individual will function as part of a comprehensive EMS response team. Under medical oversight the A-EMT will perform interventions with the basic and advanced equipment typically found on an ambulance. The A-EMT is a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
*Must be 18 years of age or older and a Pennsylvania State Certified Emergency Medical Technician to enroll in this course.
