At Fayette campus, protesting violence against women

For a third year, Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus will host local participants in the One Billion Rising campaign, the world’s biggest mass action to end violence against women, Feb. 14 at 12:15 p.m. in the Williams Building’s Swimmer Hall.

Launched on Valentine’s Day 2012, the movement began as a call to action based on the staggering statistic that one in three women on the planet will be beaten or raped during her lifetime. With the world population at seven billion, this adds up to more than a billion women and girls. People across the world now come together every Feb. 14 to express their outrage, strike, dance, and rise in defiance of the injustices women suffer, demanding an end to the violence.

Members of the community are invited to participate in One Billion Rising, which is free of charge. For more information, contact Jennifer Anto at 724-430-4137 or [email protected].
