As part of our regular "We Are!" feature, we recognize seven Penn Staters who have gone above and beyond what's asked of them in their work at the University. Do you know someone who deserves a shout-out? If you do, consider taking a minute to nominate that person by filling out a short online form.

This week, we'd like say thank you on behalf of the entire University community to:

Pam Knowlton of Penn State Dickinson Law, whose nominator wrote: "Pam embodies the 'We Are!' spirit every day. As the Dickinson Law registrar, she’s addressed scheduling, exams, records requests, and more in different and creative ways. The volume of work is high and yet she still has a positive attitude. Her desire to help students through it all is an inspiration."

Laura Adams of the College of Information Science and Technology, whose nominator wrote: "Laura constantly goes the extra mile in everything she does. She is the most reliable team member I’ve ever worked with and pursues excellence in every facet of her job. Everything she does aims to improve the lives of students, faculty and staff."

Lynnicia Massenburg, graduate student in the Eberly College of Science, whose nominator wrote: "As the president of Minority Graduate Students in STEM, Lynn works to ensure the black graduate students in the STEM field have resources and community to support them through their grad school journey."

Cecil Shelton, faculty member in the Eberly College of Science, whose nominator wrote: "To get things up and running in Stat 200, Cecil Shelton hosts TA and LA trainings at times that are the best for the grad and undergrads to meet together — after hours. Thanks for supporting our students!"

Wendy Hanna-Rose, faculty member in Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences, whose nominator wrote: "Wendy has been extremely supportive of me as a black graduate student. She listens to my concerns and provides constructive criticism. Wendy pushes me when necessary and guides me when needed."

Annie Liu, graduate student in the School of Music and the Eberly College of Science, whose nominator wrote: "Ms. Liu is a stellar musician and Science major. A scholarship recipient, she serves as the manager for a research lab, remarkable since she is an undergraduate. She received the university’s Erikson Discovery Grant for research last summer. Ms. Liu enjoys the support of her peers and all her teachers."

Michelle Henrish of Penn State Fayette, whose nominator wrote: "Michelle, Penn State Fayette Nursing Administrative Support Assistant, helped to expediate the approval process for our nursing students to begin on-site obstetrical nursing clinical rotations. The approval process is very detailed and involves multiple steps and trainings. The clinical site contact person stated, 'KUDOS to Michelle for all her hard work in making sure the students were prepared for Day 1 of clinical!  I wish all my school coordinators were as involved in making sure the trainings were completed!'"

Thank you Pam, Laura, Lynnicia, Cecil, Wendy, Annie and Michelle — and to everyone who helps makes Penn State such an incredible community. We Are!
