A brief description for each program is provided below. Details regarding each program can be found by clicking the associated tile on the left side of this page.

Summer Start Orientation

If your first semester is during the summer, you will still need to attend an orientation appointment. Summer Start Orientation operates from a student-centered concierge model. This means we work with your needs to schedule a one-on-one appointment with a professional adviser in the Student Success Center for orientation and assist you in navigating all the processes you need to complete before you start your first day of classes.

Additionally, you will have an opportunity to meet with a student aid representative to ask questions regarding federal and state loans and grants. Once you have selected your orientation appointment in VZO, you will be contacted directly by the Student Success Center to schedule their orientation appointment.

You will use your Penn State Access Account (e.g., abc5123) to access key systems to prepare for your TSO appointment.

New Student Orientation (NSO) for First-Year Students

All new first-year students must participate in New Student Orientation (NSO). At NSO, you will meet with faculty and staff, begin to develop goals for your time at Penn State, learn about campus resources, and schedule courses for your first semester. New students will schedule their orientation through VZO beginning in April, 2018.

You will use your Penn State Access Account (e.g., abc5123) to access each of the steps listed above.

Transfer Student Orientation (TSO)

All transfer students must attend a Transfer Student Orientation (TSO) appointment. During this appointment, you will meet with a professional adviser to review your transfer credits, learn about program requirements and contacts, learn about campus resources, and schedule courses for your first semester at Penn State Fayette. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to meet with a student aid representative to ask questions regarding federal and state loans and grants. New transfer students will be contacted directly by the Student Success Center to schedule their TSO appointment beginning April, 2018.

You will use your Penn State Access Account (e.g., abc5123) to access key systems to prepare for your TSO appointment.

Adult Student Orientation (ASO)

All adult students new to Penn State Fayette must attend an Adult Student Orientation (ASO) appointment. These appointments are scheduled to best accommodate your availability and that of our professional advising staff here in the Student Success Center. During this appointment you will work with a professional adviser to review any transfer credits you may have, learn about program requirements and contacts, learn about campus resources, and schedule courses for your first semester at Penn State Fayette. Additionally, you will have an opportunity to meet with a student aid representative to ask questions regarding federal and state loans and grants. New adult students will be contacted directly by the Student Success Center to schedule their ASO appointment beginning April, 2018.

International Student Orientation (ISO)

All international students must attend the International Student Orientation (ISO) event that will occur the week prior to the start of the fall semester in August. International students who are in the country prior to the August event are welcome to register and attend an earlier NSO event, but are still required to attend the August ISO event to receive additional information and support resources. This is also an opportunity to meet with the campus staff responsible for supporting you during your first academic year at Penn State Fayette as well as to make any necessary schedule adjustments prior to the start of the semester.
