Update on Tutoring Services as of March 16, 2020–Response to COVID-19 and Move to Remote Learning
The Learning Center at Penn State Fayette is meeting the needs of our students by offering remote tutoring through our Online Writing Lab and Zoom, a cloud-based meeting platform that provides video, audio, and screen-sharing options across multiple platforms, including mobile. You can join a Zoom meeting by clicking on a meeting link, entering the meeting ID into the Zoom Web Portal, the desktop app, or the mobile app. For more information about Zoom, please see the Zoom Meeting Quick Start Guide.
To connect with a tutor, students should complete the tutor request form.
• Once you complete the request form, Learning Center staff will pair you with a tutor in the appropriate subject area.
• Then, a tutor will reach out to you about establishing a day and time to meet for the Zoom consultation.
• Following your initial session, feel free to reach out to the tutor directly to arrange a future appointment.

OWL–Online Writing Lab
The OWL professional tutors will continue to offer writing support for students in all disciplines. We are prepared for an increase in usage. Students should submit their questions and paper drafts by completing a request survey.
All writing tutoring will be conducted through the OWL for the remainder of the semester. Students may request paper reviews or Zoom/phone sessions to discuss brainstorming and paper development.
Please plan for a turnaround time of approximately 48 hours (also factoring in time for writer revisions after receiving feedback and communicating with the tutor).
* If many OWL requests come through in a short time span, for example when students are required to submit a paper to the OWL as part of an assignment, this may lengthen our turnaround time. We appreciate your understanding and patience as the writing tutors do their best to provide quality feedback for each request.

Are you seeking help for an elementary, middle school, or high school student?
Unfortunately, we do not coordinate such tutoring through our center because our tutors are hired solely to work with current Penn State Fayette students. However, we can advertise your tutoring need to our student body. Email information about the opportunity to email@example.com. Please provide a contact person, email and/or phone number, subject(s) and level of the student, school district/general location, and pay or volunteer information (a rate or the willingness to negotiate a wage). The Learning Center will work with Career Services to advertise the opportunity to our current students. Then, anyone interested can contact you directly.
