LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — The Office of Outreach and Continuing Education at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus will offer a variety of educational and athletic programs for children of all ages this summer. The campus has provided youth programming for more than 20 years.
All-day Discovery Camps ($149) will include “The Science Behind the Magic” (grades fifth through eighth, July 9 to 12), “Crime Scene Investigation” (grades fifth through eighth, July 16 to 20), and “CADD, Lego Mindstorm, 3D Printing” (grades seventh through ninth, July 23-27).
"Kids in College" ($149) an all-day program for children in grades first through third, will explore art, national treasures, science, world culture and kitchen chemistry during the week of June 25. “Diggin’ Dinosaurs” will take students on an adventure through the stone ages during the week of July 9.
Three successive Science and Robotics Camps ($149 each) for children in grades third through sixth will develop the skills necessary to design and develop video games from scratch. The first session begins the week of June 25.
"Adventures in Health Care Professions" ($90) is a new offering this year. Held July 17 to 19, the course will offer students in grades 10th through 12th an opportunity to explore careers in nursing, pre-veterinarian, pre-dental, physical therapy and biomedical engineering. Students will obtain CPR certification, learn more about the college application process and network with health care professionals from the community.
"SAT Prep" ($149) for students in grades 10th through 12th will begin the week of July 23.
A free "STEM Camp," sponsored by Chevron Corporation, will provide a week of hands-on education in science, technology, engineering and math for students in grades ninth through 12th during the week of June 25.
Sports Camp offerings have expanded this year to include baseball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, cross country, softball, volleyball and wrestling for various ages.
