Penn State Fayette students to stage sleep-out and food drive May 17-18

'One Night Without a Home' will raise awareness and advocacy of homelessness

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Students at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, will participate in "One Night Without A Home," a sleep-out and food drive, from Friday, May 17, through Saturday, May 18, on the campus front lawn.

“One Night Without a Home is an opportunity for housed persons to spend a night outside without shelter to discuss, think, and learn about homelessness in the area,” said Chad Long, director of student affairs. “Although one night cannot fully simulate homelessness, it will help to promote advocacy, awareness and education.”

The public may participate in the food drive. Non-perishable goods will be collected for the duration of the event, from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning. Donations will benefit the Fayette County Food Bank.
