2019 summer youth programs, sports camps offered at Penn State Fayette

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — The Office of Outreach and Continuing Education at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus will offer a variety of educational and athletic programs for children and teens this summer. The campus has provided youth programming for more than 20 years.

Youth Programs (cost: $149)

Week of 6/10 to 6/14

  • Young Scientists Come Alive! (grades 2 to 4) 

Week of 6/17 to 6/21

  • Kids in College (grades 1 to 3)
  • Creativity in Motion (grades 4 to 6)
  • Enchanted Stories: Artemis Fowl Series (grades 5 to 8)
  • Tech-palooza (grades 6 to 9)

Week of 6/24 to 6/28

  • Great Pioneer Adventure Challenge and Things with Wings (grades 1 to 3)
  • Minecraft Mania (grades 3 to 5)
  • Science Behind the Magic I (grades 5 to 8)

Week of 7/8 to 7/12

  • Merlin’s Magic Tree House (grades 1 to 3)
  • Science and Robotics I (grades 3 to 6)
  • Science Behind the Magic II (grades 5 to 8)
  • Diggin’ Dinosaurs (grades 1 to 3)

Week of 7/15 to 7/19

  • Polar Adventure (grades 1 to 3)
  • Pokémon Palooza (grades 3 to 5)
  • Science-palooza (grades 5 to 8)

Week of 7/22 to 7/26

  • Spark Your Imagination! (grades 2 to 4)
  • Science and Robotics II (grades 3 to 6)
  • Crime Scene Investigation (grades 5 to 8)

Week of 7/29 to 8/2

  • Latin and Spanish Culture (grades 1 to 3)
  • Superheroes (grades 3 to 6)

Teen Programs 

Adventures in Health Care Professions (cost: $90) returns this year. Held July 23 to 25, the course will offer students in grades ninth through 12th an opportunity to explore careers in nursing, pre-veterinarian, pre-dental, physical therapy and biomedical engineering. Students will obtain CPR certification, learn more about the college application process, and network with health care professionals from the community.

A free STEM Career Exploration Camp, sponsored by Chevron Corporation, will provide a week of hands-on education in science, technology, engineering and math for students in grades ninth through 12th. Two sessions will be offered during the weeks of June 24 and July 8.

SAT Prep (cost: $149) for students in grades tenth through twelfth will begin the week of July 15.

Safety, Law and Order (cost: $90) will introduce teens in grades eighth through tenth to a state police officer, a sheriff, a judge, a K-9 officer, a game warden, and other law enforcement personnel.

Sports Programs 

Sports Camp offerings for various age groups, instructed by the Penn State Athletic Department, include girls’ and boys’ basketball, volleyball, baseball, softball, and cross country. Prices vary.
