Scheduling
If you would like to schedule an appointment, please contact the Campus Counselor at 724-430-4122 or by email at [email protected]. Students may also drop by the Campus Counselor’s office located at 121 Williams Building.
What can a student expect at their first session?
A student’s initial meeting with the campus counselor involves a brief (approximately 30 minutes) initial consultation to discuss concerns. During the initial consultation, the counselor and student talk about ways in which campus or other services might be able to help. If the counselor and student decide that the student will return for counseling services, then they will work together to complete new forms and assessments to gather background information and help prioritize concerns and set goals.
What happens after the first session?
If the student and intake counselor agree that further counseling is appropriate, the student and counselor review the options available on campus and in the community to arrive at a tentative plan for additional services. Following the initial appointment and depending on the time of the semester, it’s possible that there may be a waiting period for specific service(s) needed. Counseling appointments are typically scheduled on a weekly to bi-weekly basis depending on the student’s schedule and needs.
