Arnos Michealis, author of 'My Life After Hate,' to speak at Penn State Fayette

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus will host Arno Michaelis, author of "My Life After Hate," at 12:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, in Swimmer Hall of the Williams building.

In the 1980s and 1990s, Michaelis was a founding member of a racist organization, a reverend of a self-declared racial holy war, and the frontman of a hate-metal band.

Michaelis credits single parenthood and the forgiveness shown by communities he once hated for helping him to embrace diversity and practice gratitude for all life.

“Once I’d stepped down this path, violence became a self-fulfilling prophecy,” said Michaelis. “I wallowed in violence as a means of self-destruction and stimulation.”

He credits single parenthood and the forgiveness shown by communities he once hated for helping him to embrace diversity and practice gratitude for all life. Michaelis now travels nationwide in an effort to counter the cycle of violence he once perpetuated.

The event is free and open to the public.
