Penn State Fayette Athletics establishes co-ed soccer program

LEMONT FURNACE, Pa. — The Athletics Department at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus has established a soccer program, now recruiting for the 2021 season.

The co-ed program will play within the Penn State University Athletic Conference men’s soccer conference schedule. The 12-week season will begin on Saturday, Sept. 11. The team is set to play 14 games, with playoff competition scheduled for late October.

The coaching staff will be named this summer. Penn State Fayette will partner with local townships and school districts to access facilities for competition, and the team will practice at the Fayette campus.

“I have always envisioned a soccer program for the campus to expand opportunities for students and increase enrollment,” said Lou Zadecky, athletic director. “There is a lot of enthusiasm for soccer in the region. We’re excited to move forward and thankful that we have strong leadership and support from Chancellor Patrick and Student Affairs.”

Penn State Fayette's soccer program is open to all full-time incoming and returning students. Interested students should contact the Athletics Department at 724-430-4259. Prospective students may schedule an in-person or virtual appointment with an admissions counselor at 724-430-4130. Visit psfathletics.com for more information.
