Students make course content accessible during summer program

This past summer, Penn State Fayette was one of six campuses chosen to pilot the Pathway to Success: Summer Start (PaSSS) program, which gave students the opportunity to start college a semester early to improve their English and math skills while they earned extra money for other expenses.

Time is running out for businesses in rural Pennsylvania to benefit from a special grant through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Rural Energy for America Program designed to help agricultural producers and rural small businesses reduce energy costs and consumption and help meet the nation's critical energy needs through the Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP).

The Medical Minute: Practice fireworks safety this Independence Day

Independence Day celebrations almost always include fireworks of some kind. The Prevent Blindness America organization recommends attending professionally organized fireworks displays rather than buying and setting off your own. This view is echoed by the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), which collects and reports data on fireworks-related injuries every year. They report that 7,000 emergency room visits from fireworks-related injuries occurred during 2008, including seven deaths. In 2007, there were 11 deaths and 9,800 emergency room visits from fireworks-related injury.
