New students, those in University housing must submit immunization records

Students who are new to Penn State and all students living in University housing are reminded that they must submit their immunization records using myUHS through a new three-step process. As part of this process, students who do not submit their immunization records prior to Sept. 15 will be unable to register for spring 2017 classes.

Summer program for first-year students expands

This summer, selected students at Penn State’s Altoona and York campuses will have the opportunity to get a head start on their first or second years of college by taking summer classes through the Pathway to Success: Summer Start (PaSSS) pilot program. Now in its second year, the program supports students with unmet financial need by providing a scholarship, $400 book stipend, mentoring, social activities and on-campus employment.

From well pad to Washington

Army veteran Daniel Sparks was living the good life during the nation’s oil and gas boom but found himself laid off last November, with no prospects for work. The father of three felt that his leadership experience from the military would appeal to some employers, but he knew that his job prospects were diminished without a college degree. Less than a year later, Sparks has blossomed into a full-fledged college student who is active at Penn State's Fayette campus, in particular with the Student Veterans Association.

Engineering professor leads Earth Day activities at Fayette campus

If you noticed young maple trees, their roots contained in bags, strategically placed around Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, then they came from longtime faculty member David Meredith’s herb garden. If you passed a group of people picking up litter along University Drive recently, then it was Meredith and one of his classes. If you happened to see students planting trees on campus last week, they were brought there by Meredith, their instructor, an associate professor of engineering.

Penn State Fayette inducts high achievers into honor society

Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus held a special ceremony April 25 to recognize top students for their academic accomplishments. Every student with a 3.5 or better grade-point average after completing at least 30 credits at the Fayette campus is eligible for a lifetime membership in the Pi Sigma Phi honor society.

First conference on student success takes place at Fayette

Nearly 70 college and university administrators attended the Student Success Institute June 2 and 3 at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus, where they networked, learned about resources, and got tangible ideas about how their institutions can help students to become more successful.
